The price of housing in Georgia continues to plummet. June 2011 saw Georgia’s home prices dip 6.8%. Considering that this is just the latest in a long series of bad indicators for Georgian real estate, anyone hoping to buy property in the Peach State is entering into one of the great buyer’s market in modern real estate history.

Cheapest Homes in Atlanta

Atlanta has a population over 400,000, while the Atlanta Metropolitan Area includes a number of sizable suburbs, as well. While Atlanta is in Fulton County, many of the suburbs are in Dekalb County, so keep that in mind when searching for homes in the Atlanta area and it will nearly double your home buying options.

Many of the cheaper residential options in Atlanta proper are condos. For instance, Pharr Court South has a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condominium selling for $69,000. This condo looks to be in a high rise, but the CondoAtlanta website depicts these apartments as more of a ground-level alternative.

The Roswell Round Apartment Complex has a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo with 1,497 square feet selling for $72,800. Meanwhile, a Euclid Avenue Apartment has a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom single family residence selling for $79,000. Finally, Deep Creek Place has a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house selling for $85,000 even. This home contains 2,159 square feet.

Cheapest Homes in Dekalb County

In nearby Dekalb County, the town of Lithonia has a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom foreclosed house selling for $32,900. The facade on the front of this home is impressive and the hedge is well-kept. On Rambling way in Lithonia, Georgia, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house is selling for $39,000. The square footage on this home is 1,200, while the lot is said to have a similar 1,258 square feet.

Saddlewood Drive in Lithonia contains a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with 1,689 square feet. This house, which is set off nicely from the street by a yard and driveway–and has a two-car garage–is selling for $34,900. Phillips Creek Drive in Lithonia has a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom establishment selling for $49,900. The layout is 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you have trouble climbing stairs or getting into or out of a home, you might avoid this property, since it has a staircase taking you to the front door.

Continuing in Lithonia, I found a 2 bed, 1 bath house on Holt Road with 968 square feet. This house is selling for $10,500. Meanwhile, a 3 bed, 2 bath residence on Stablewood Way is selling for $27,500 and a 3 bed, 2 bath home on the impressive-sounding Ravenwood Lane is selling for $35,900.

Cheapest Homes in Savannah

Many of the homes in Savannah, Georgia are expensive, but I was able to find a few good deals in Savannah, the 4th largest city in the state (131,000) and along the southeastern coastline of Georgia. For instance, you’ll find a two bedroom, two bathroom home and land on Crabapple Circle selling for $18,025.

Atlanta Street has a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom residence selling for the specific price of $52,569. Windmill Lane has a 2 bed, 1.5 bathroom home selling for $54,000, while Aimar Avenue has a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house selling for $58,700. Check out all three of these listings if you’re looking for something in this price range and see if one of them suits your family’s purposes.

Inexpensive Homes in Augusta

August on the far side of the state is home to the Augusta National Golf Course and the yearly Masters Golf Tournament, arguably the most famous golf tournament in the world (argued by the Scottish, that is). You would think every home in August would be ritzy and expensive, but I found some quite affordable home options in the area.

One example is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom square home on 7th Avenue selling for $10,000 straight-up. Birnam Place has a nice, well-kept looking residence selling for $48,900 which contains 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 1,350 square feet. Monte Carlo Drive also has a three bedroom, two bathroom, 1,167 square foot home selling for $61,900.

Affordable Houses in Columbus

Columbus, Georgia is the third-largest city in Georgia, located on the border with Alabama. Columbus has a house on Hodges Drive with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom selling for $18,900. Munson Drive also has a 2 bed, 1 bathroom house. In this case, the foreclosure residence is selling for $24,900. If you want a house with more space, you can find a 3 bed, 1 bath residence on Kirkland Drive selling for $39,700.

Hawthorne Drive in Columbus has a 3 bed, 1 bath accommodation which is selling for $34,900 on foreclosure. Finally, you have a 3 bed, 1 bath home on King William Drive selling for $49,900 on foreclosure.

Cheapest Homes in Augusta

312 Barbara Road in Augusta has an extended listing on a 2 bed, 1 bath home for $8,800. Two other good bargains for the Augusta area are a 2 bed, 2 bath home for 8933 Woodlake Drive, though this is an exclusive listing, and an $18,900, 2 bed, 1 bath residence at 2264 Winston Way. 626 South 3rd Avenue in Rochelle, Georgia has a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house selling for $20,000. This house is subject to lottery stipulations, so there’s a chance it gets pulled back from the market.

You look out in the yard and what do you notice? Gravel, dirt, rough patches of grass in all directions – specifically, an uninviting yard. What could make you despise the qappearance even more is if when you look over by the neigbours your eyes meet green, level and appealingly neat lawn. Obviously, you would like a lawn like that. You want to transform your yard to “keep up with the Jones’s” and to make it more homely. You want to see your yard covered by green beauty free of weeds. The mystery to having neat lawns is planting grass, applying lawn fertilizers, proper weed control customs and having a an appropriate mowing regimen.

What exactly is grass? It is a kind of plant belonging to the family of Gramineae. There are nine thousand different species of grass. Whether we believe it or not, grass is very crucial to our existence. Some kind make food for us such as rice, other kinds make up the diet for animals such as cows and some types are used in construction or to help prevent soil erosion for example bamboo.

Persons grow different kinds of grass on their lawns but it depends to a great extent on the kind of climate. Grass has fibrous roots so once planted, they spread around an area very rapidly to cover that unique place. If your goal is to have your yard covered in the beauty of green grass, here’s how to realize that goal:

How To Grow Grass

Materials necessary:

Grass seeds

Hay or straw

Loose soil

Phosphorus

Soil conditioner

Tools required:

Watering can

Metal rake

Instructions:

1.	Use the metal rake to till the soil as a means of preparing it to plant grass.

2.	Add phosphorus and soil conditioner to the soil to prepare it to give appropriate growth of grass.

3.	Use the metal rake and plow the soil again to be certain that the phosphorus and soil conditioner are correctly mixed into the soil.

4.	Spread the seeds by hand onto the empty soil.

5.	Dampen the seeds using the watering can. By doing this, the soil will also be hydrated.

6.	Cover by sprinkling loose soil over the seeds.

7.	Spread some hay or straw over the area to provide the ideal growing conditions, specifically the accurate temperature, for the grass.

8.	Water the grass at least twice per day to fuel growth.

In no time you will have sprouts of grass on the lawn.

Tips:

Do not apply seeds too thickly to an area as the nutrients in the soil will become insufficient for too much grass.

The suitable time to plant grass is in April and October and it has been learned that seeds planted in October generate better growth in addition to re-growth.

When planting the seeds, be sure to do so equally on the soil to prevent thick areas and thin areas which will give a “patchy appearance”.

It is always best to use a watering can than to use a hose because the hose is likely to wash away the seeds from the soil which would defeat the whole purpose of you planting them.

Before you plant any grass in your yard, it is very vital to get rid of old grass.

You may consider edging the corners of the lawn where you want the grass to stop growing as this will give a neater look when the grass has grown.

Do not walk on the lawn when you observe small green shoots. The grass is very delicate at this point and cannot endure abuse so it needs to become full-grown

Eating healthy opposite to what many people think is far from dull, there are lots of wonderful tasting dishes that can be integrated with fruits like squash to make an impressive dish that both vegetarians and individuals who eat meat will enjoy. Bell butternut squash can be identified by its orange fleshy pulp and yellow surface, when it becomes ripe it turns gradually more deep orange. Bell butternut squash is classified as a winter squash because it produces a deep skin and if is put up properly it can last for long periods at a time right into the winter season. Bell butternut squash produces a juicy, but nutty favor which is comparable to that of the taste of pumpkins. It is a fruit that can be used in a wide range of dishes, it can be roasted, toasted or pureed to be used in soups, breads, muffins and casseroles.

With this in mind you may be considering how you can truly capitalize on having your very own supply by growing them on your own. Butternut squash is one of the simpliest vegetables to grow which requires very little resources, such as tools and man-power. Many seed companies have now manufactured squash seeds that produce smaller vines so they can be planted in even smaller spots for home gardens and sometimes even ripen quicker than usual. With a couple basic instructions you will be well on your way to making a beautifully arranged garden with your home cultivated bell butternut squash.

How To Grow Butternut Squash

Required Tools:

Water hose or pale

Gardening spade

Digging fork

Knife

Required Materials:

Water

Soil

Bell Butternut Squash seeds

Instructions are as follows:

1. Initially you need to purchase the bell butternut squash. Then Bell butternut squash should be sown in a peat pot and kept indoors some weeks prior to sowing it in your vegetable garden. You can sow 2 – 3 seedlings per pot so that after a week or after germination the one that doesn’t spur can be eliminated.

2. Before planting the squash seed, ensure you select an area within the garden that is sandy and enriched with organic content. The area should also receive plenty of sunlight, because squash needs a lot of sunshine to thrive and the garden bed should be properly drained.

3. Once that is arranged, use the fork and shovel to excavate the earth. The seeds should be planted about 6 inches deep and several inches apart from each other in rows or in cluster of six seeds and part the groups about six to eight feet apart from each way. Thin the seedlings in strips to 18 inches apart.

4. After the seeds are sown then the earth should be fertilized every other week by using sandy soil and each month with clay or loamy soils and also apply manure tea to promote increased development. Continuously use your garden tools and hands to mulch the earth to keep the fruit clean by endorsing good air circulation to maintain the moisture.

5. Winter squash usually requires between 80 to 110 days before it can be harvested. Once the bell butternut squash is fully ripe then it can be harvested but it should be done before there is any intense frost. Generally when it becomes ripened it shows a dull color like a full beige or a light tan shade. At this time, the skin will be hard enough so that your finger nail won’t be able to make an impression on it. When it is being harvested you should use a knife to cut it rather than pulling it and also leave back a small part of the stem joint to the fruit. Then wipe off the soil but do not wash off the goods before you store it.

6. Now leave the fruit to cure in the sun for approximately seven to ten days to protect the fruits from frost as they are curing. Then store them in a cool and well ventilated location until they are needed.

Tips and Warnings

*When you grow butternut squash,, you should always search for pickleworms, egg sacks and vine borers. You can utilize your hands to take off pests or you can apply a spray to remove them. You can also use row covers to protect the fruits against squash bugs.

*Squash plants are usually sown in the hills and they require both male and female flower for pollination to occur so having numerous plants with lots of blossoms will boosts the chance of pollination.

* Squash seeds should be planted in a mound that can comprise of manure to aid the setting up of the soil so that it is around one to two feet in diameter. You must place every mound two to three feet apart with no more than three to five plants spaced evenly. After the plants start to develop then you need to thin out the weak plants. Each mound should have. Wet up the squash plant intensely no less than once a week and try to stay clear of watering the plant’s leaves because this will promote disease.

A windmill is a device employed to convert wind energy to useful power through the employing of a rotary motion and adjustable vanes or sails. Windmills were originally used for crushing grain however, as individuals have altered to being more involved with conserving nature and seeking sources of natural power, windmills have grown in popularity.

You might think assembling a windmill of your own is too costly but you have nothing to worry about since you can build a windmill yourself for around $200 and the long term savings a windmill will give you will be well worth it. So if you are thinking about building a windmill of your own here are a few tips for assembling a windmill around 5 feet tall.

How To Build A Windmill

Required Tools

Saw

Sander

Drill

Required Materials

cement and sandbags

Plastic PVC pipes

Nuts and bolts

Sails

A generator

Hub

A mounting

Batteries and an electronic control system

2×4 board

Straps

Heavy sheet aluminum

Instructions

As with a great deal of other things you can procure windmill guides or kits to reduce your work. The guides will show you step by step steps for assembling a windmill and will include a detailed menu of needed materials to construct a windmill. A windmill kit will include plans as well as all the materials you need to construct the windmill so you will require nothing but a couple tools. If however, you choose to build a windmill with no additional help then here is what you need to do.

Let’s start with the generator; some people opt to build their own generator but an easier option is to buy a permanent magnet DC motor. You need a motor that will produce good current at a low rpm level; a 30 volt motor rated at 325 rpm ought to produce around 12 volts so a motor such as this would be perfect.

For sails/blades you may purchase pre-made blades or create blades out of wood, aluminum or PVC pipe. To see just how you need to cut the PVC pipes visit one of the websites on the internet such as yourgreendream.com which will provide you precise guidelines on what to do. Once you have cut out your blades using a saw, use the sander to smooth the edges of the blades to make them even more efficient.

You will need a hub to bolt the blades to and to attach the motor to, basically any flat disk about 5 inches in diameter will do. Drill 2 holes, one below the other into the blades and drill matching holes through the hub, then use the nuts and bolts to secure the sails to the hub.

The windmill piece is now done but you need a mount to fix it to. Strap the motor to one end of the piece of 2×4 board and use a piece of PVC pipe to shelter the motor so it is shielded from rain. Lastly secure the heavy sheet aluminum to the other end of the 2×4 board to work as a tail for the windmill.

For a tower use a PVC or aluminum pipe; bury it in the ground and concrete it into place, use sandbags to furthermore secure the tower in place and then put the windmill onto the tower.

Buy a wind power control system for moving energy from the windmill to the batteries, from any Alternative Energy store. You need electrical cables to connect the windmill to the power control; run the cables from the windmill down through the tower and join it to the power controller. Now it’s time to test out your windmill.

Tip

Remember that the taller a windmill is the more wind it will catch. Therefore you want your windmill to be above any possible obstruction.

Kitchen cabinets add value to a residence along with adding a lot of helpful storage space however, they can be really pricey. But if you have previous skill with woodworking you can build kitchen cabinets on your own and get rid of the cost of hiring a professional; here’s how.

How To Build Kitchen Cabinets

Required Tools
Table Saw/circular saw

A doweling jig or a horizontal boring tool

Mallet

Drill

Router

Clamps for gluing

Sandpaper

Required Materials

Cabinet grade plywood for carcass (frame)

Plywood for door, false front insert and kick plate face

1″ x 6″ oak for face frame

Dowels

Hinges

Knobs

Glue

Finishing nails (6d)

Self drilling screws

Drawer materials and slides (if needed)

Counter top materials

Instructions

The base for the cabinets should be 3¼ inches high and the size should be the same as the floor of the cabinets without the sides, front and back of the cabinets. Use the table saw or a circular saw to cut the plywood to the necessary size and nail it all together.

Use the cabinet grade plywood to make the floor of the cabinet and use a little glue and some finishing nails to join it to the base. Next glue and nail the walls of the cabinet to the base, using the clamps to secure them in place while you drive the nails. Make sure that the carcass is properly squared. You can now add any shelving you intend to include.

When the carcass is done move on to the face frame; cut the oak wood to the necessary length and then determine where the dowel holes will go and set out the face frame and the stiles (vertical pieces) to ensure that everything fits correctly. Use the doweling jig or horizontal boring tool to drill the needed holes for the dowels you are using. Put wood glue on the stiles, dowels and in the dowel holes and then insert the dowels into their selected holes using the mallet to seat them properly. Use the clamps to hold the assembly together until the glue dries and everything is dried in place.

Drill holes along the top, middle, bottom and sides of the face frame to hold it to the carcass. Apply glue to the edges of the plywood (the carcass) and the face frame and use clamps to hold the face frame in place. Make sure that the face frame is properly lined up prior to tightening the clamps. Next nail 6d finishing nails into the pre-drilled holes to keep the face frame in place.

You can opt to purchase pre-made doors or you can build them too. Just like the face frame use dowels, clamps and glue to put the doors together, but for the doors you need to use the router to make a space for the door insert. Glue, clamp and nail the drawers together too and install the slides for the drawers and doors.

Put in the door inserts and sand down all the sections of the cabinet and then install the doors and drawers. Fill in any nail holes with wood putty and apply whatever finishing touch you choose such as stain, varnish and polyurethane.

Put in the drawers, doors, knobs, handles, hinges and set the cabinet in position. Use a drill and the self drilling screws to hold the cabinets to the wall and lastly, put in the top of the cabinet and you are finished.

Tips and Warnings

Use a clamp to secure a ruler or other straight item onto the plywood when cutting to work as a guide.

Any height or width the counters are to be, build the frame about ¾ of an inch lower and narrower so that the cabinets are the desired size when the doors and counter tops are in place.

A greenhouse is a structure built to house growing plants. Greenhouses are sometimes referred to as glasshouses because the roof and the walls are regularly made of glass or plastic. The structure gets heated by radiation from the sun which warms the plants and the soil inside the structure more quickly that it normally would outdoors. This is because the heat is trapped inside the structure by the roof and walls. Greenhouses provide the right conditions for plants to bloom as it safeguards them from pests and severe weather conditions.

Once you build a greenhouse, the walls and roof are the next things to be taken into consideration. You can use glass or plastic. If you opt to use glass, you will require a special kind that insulates and guards the plants from the sun’s rays by preventing ultraviolet rays to shine within. This option is often more costly than buying plastic. The structure has to be sturdy enough to support the additional burden of the glass. One advantage of using glass is that it is enduring than plastic. Double pane glasses provide additional insulation and exclude more sunlight. Frosted or hammered glass spread the light throughout the building. The finest type of glass to use is low-e style panes because they reduce ultraviolet rays and traps more light. The purpose of the greenhouse glass is to function as a hindrance to air flow trapping energy within the greenhouse. The air near the ground is heated and is prevented from rising and leaking from the greenhouse.

Apart from glass, plastic is the other material used in greenhouse veneering. There are two types that are widely used. They are:

Smooth transparent sheets of polyethylene and vinyl film – industrial mabufacturers have a tendency to utilize this type as they find it effective and inexpensive for rapid assembly to accommodate additional plants or periodic crops. In this case, the using long-durable material is not crucial. These forms are easily added to the frame of the greenhouse.

Corrugated and special types, like, Fiberglas, Al-synite and Mylar – they are more costly but are the best options when it comes to resilience and staying power. Experiments have proven that they can last up to 25 years. They do not require shading and are resilient to ruthless weather conditions like hail or snow. These types are unsuitable for plants that thrive from exposure to the sun but are suitable for orchids, anthuriums and ferns among others.

Using plastic on a greenhouse has benefits. It is lighter than glass, is reasonably durable and is shatterproof. It is also resilient to weathering, clear to light and is not regularly damaged by rodents or termites. Plastic greenhouse transmit about 40% of heat when likened to glass and will not decompose. Some plastics transmit up to 80% of ultraviolet rays. This is superior when compared to glass. The only disadvantage is that plastics provide improper ventilation.

Have you ever question why corner units have become so popular? Many traditional furniture ranging from small display units to TV stands are being manufactured as corner units. The corners of rooms are difficult complicated to fit useful furniture into. On numerous occasions we have useful corner space being wasted. This is where corner units become handy and this is also responsible for the increase in corner units on the furniture market. There are varieties of corner units to suit the various areas and requirements of the home. Even organizations are now utilizing corner units to conserve space.
Here are some of the many varieties of corner units existing today:
1. Corner Shelving Units
Sometimes we have our little items that we use from time to time. Having them scattered around the home can be very untidy so we sometimes store them away anywhere. However, when we need to use them we have to hunt for them which is rather time consuming. A corner shelf can solve that dilemma. They come in different sizes to suit your particular needs.
2. Corner TV Stand
Most people spend hours watching TV. With the continuous advances in technology, you will find more than a TV for entertainment in a normal home. There is of course DVD players, stereos and home theatre systems. The avid TV-watcher would love to have all these devices connected and in one area. Plus, with all the extra wires from these devices, you need a way of hiding them. Having a corner TV stand would do just that. You can now set up all your entertainment equipment on a corner TV stand and hide all the wires in the corner. Most power outlets are located near corners so that is also an advantage.

3. Corner Desk Units
Even offices are making use of their corners by purchasing corner desks. If you work in an office, you are familiar with the scenario when a desk is occupied by computer, printer, phone and other necessities. These occupy useful space that could be used for other purposes. With the right corner desk you can make use of the extra desk space.
Don’t know where to store your pots, pans and other items? Now you can buy different corner units for your kitchen. You may even have your cupboard built in the corner to effectively use space.
6. Corner Display Units
If you like to collect valuable items to put on display you could certainly use a corner display unit. Some are very tall and slender with shelves so you can adorn them with your antiques.

Castles have always been historically linked to the monarchy that ruled a specific area. They were originally an expression of wealth and power. In current times they are not automatically associated with monarchs but still do hold a similar type of admiration. In fact, people from all over still glorify the beauty and stateliness that may be found with a well built castle. If you would like to build your own castle there are a few things you will be required to do to make this dream a reality.

Required Tools and Materials

Cranes

Heavy machinery

Bricks

Stone cutters

Stones

Metal

Cement

Sand

Instructions

1)Before you can go ahead you will need to acquire the required paper work. To do this you will need to contact your local government or state building agency to find out what the exact requirements are. These will generally vary by state. Typically you will be expected to meet safety standards, get environmental clearances and so forth. Do not begin building your castle until you have obtained the essential documentation and permits. Begining without proper clearance may lead to fines and certain penalties, which could include the destruction of the newly erected structure.

2)You will need to determine how much you will be spending on the castle. This amount will best be calculated by the professionals including the engineer and contractors. Basically you will receive a breakdown of the amount of material you will need to finish the structure. You should always make allowances for additional material. It is not uncommon for the pre-determined amount to go above expectation.

3)You should choose a site that has a fairly enormous acreage of land and good vegetation. The most ideal place for a castle is consequently the countryside. The more pleasant the area the more gorgeous the castle. This basically means the castle will seem even more inviting and prominent amidst lush fields and meadows. However, you should still choose a location that is near enough to present day conveniences.

4)You will need to dig a moat. No castle could be complete without this notable feature. Once you have dug the moat combine the cement, gravel and sand to form concrete and place around the edges to hold its completed structure in place. You may add fish and stones to your moat to make it more visually stunning.

5)You can start to construct your castle by making a solid foundation. A large cement mixer can be employed to lay down the concrete at the core of the structure. If you would like a courtyard place a bit of dirt in an appropriate area, preferably in the centre of the foundation.

6)Following the blueprints, the stones can be arranged using mortar or cement to hold them in place. The stones you opt to use should be very large and uneven. Once the stone walls are done you can install the doors, guard towers, windows and so on. Your castle should now be complete.

Tips and Warnings

1)Look at castle designs from many different locations. You can adopt certain features and create a look that encompasses many stylistic features. There are older modeled castles that used only holes for doors and windows, however if you would like the extra privacy that windows will provide then indicate this in your plan.

2)You should figure out where you will install the water and electrical conveniences before proceeding. Once the castle is built the wiring can be installed. Be sure to check that the wiring is working properly before you start using the electricity in the castle. It is best that you use a professional to carry out the installation of all electrical wires.

3)Get the highest quality materials available to increase the longevity of your castle. Employ the best people to help you build your dream home as this will save you money in the long run.
