How to beat a debt collector

A lot of people wonder if you need to let debt collectors in your home. It’s really important to remember that you don’t have to let them into your home – and they are not allowed to break in either. Be aware that if you do let them in then they can come back again whenever they please and with force if needed.

Make sure that doors and windows are not open either. Beating debt collectors isn’t easy but it’s possible with a little forethought. They also can’t come into the home if someone that is under 18 years old is in the home or if a child (someone under 12) is present in the home.

Are they allowed to take items? Well, yes actually they are. But not certain items that you need for work such as the cooker, washing machine, fridge and freezer and some items of furniture.

What is an I.V.A. ?

IVAs are Individual Voluntary Arrangements and they can stop someone from coming to your house and harrassing you.
